Information on the Support Program for Vulnerable Families of Ethnic Koreans Returning to Korea
To provide support to more Korean ethnic families returning to Korea, applications and screening will be conducted as follows.
This program provides support to vulnerable families among ethnic Koreans who have returned to Korea and are experiencing difficulties due to economic crises such as unemployment or reduced income, as well as illness or disability, single-parent households, elderly people living alone, or displacement due to the war in Ukraine.
Families in need of support are asked to complete the application questionnaire with specific and truthful information about their current living conditions and difficulties.
Applications will be comprehensively reviewed based on the urgency and severity of each family’s situation and fairness among applicants.
A total of 300 families will be selected and provided with living necessities worth KRW 700,000 per household.
During the screening process, applicants may be asked to submit additional supporting documents related to income, housing, illness, disability, family relationships, and other relevant matters in order to verify the information provided in the questionnaire.
If the information in the questionnaire is found to be false or inaccurate, the applicant may be disadvantaged during the screening process or excluded from receiving support.
Submitting an application does not automatically guarantee selection.
Due to the limited number of families that can be supported, priority will be given to families whose need for assistance is more urgent.

Program Overview
This program identifies ethnic Korean families returning to Korea who are experiencing difficulties due to economic hardship, illness or disability, gaps in caregiving, displacement caused by war, or other crisis situations, and provides essential household goods in stages according to their individual needs.
1. Background
Among ethnic Koreans who have returned to Korea, some families are facing complex difficulties such as unemployment, reduced income, unstable housing, illness or disability, single-parent childcare responsibilities, old age and living alone, or displacement from Ukraine due to the war.
However, due to language barriers, lack of information, and difficulties accessing available support systems, some families are unable to receive the assistance they need in a timely manner.
This program aims to identify families in crisis in cooperation with Korean ethnic support organizations and related institutions across the country, and to provide practical household goods to families who are determined to be in genuine need following an application and screening process.
2. Program Details

Total program value: Approximately KRW 210 million

Method of support: Food and daily necessities, customized household items, Korean traditional gift sets, and other goods provided in stages
3. Eligibility
The program is intended for ethnic Korean families residing in Korea who urgently need assistance with their daily living due to circumstances such as economic hardship, illness or disability, unstable housing, caregiving difficulties, single-parent households, old age, living alone, or displacement due to the war in Ukraine.
4. Types of Support
First Round: Mid-October
Basic living support
Food, daily necessities, and other essential items needed for basic household living will be provided.
Second Round: Late October
Customized support
Items will be provided according to each family’s individual circumstances, including illness or disability, old age, single-parent households, and the number and age of children.
Third Round: November
Year-end support
Year-end Korean ethnic community gift sets and other necessary household goods will be provided.
5. Application and Selection Process
Program announcement and application: Complete the online application questionnaire and submit supporting documents that can verify the crisis situation.
Verification of application: If necessary, the applicant or recommending organization may be contacted to verify information regarding income, housing, illness or disability, family relationships, and other circumstances.
Screening and selection: Applications will be comprehensively reviewed based on the urgency and severity of the crisis, the need for support, and fairness among households.
Notification of selection: Selected applicants will be individually informed of the selection results, support schedule, address verification, and other necessary details.
Delivery and confirmation: Support items will be delivered in stages, and receipt of the items and the results of the support will be confirmed.
